Our engineers have been working hard day and night to design
a high quality controller that can withstand a splash Our customers have
commented that they’d like a waterproof charge controller, but up until last
week, it was still in design. Here at Renogy, we like to say that hard work
goes a long way. We couldn’t have said it better when we saw the final model of
the Voyager 20A PWM Charge Controller.
The Voyager Charge Controller is the newest member of the
Traveler Series, part of the Renogy family of off-grid solar products. The
Voyager utilizes pulse width modulation, also known as PWM technology to
regulate the flow of charge between the solar panel(s) and the battery bank.
This charge controller features 5 stage charging technology: soft-start, bulk,
absorption, float, and equalization. The Voyager is suitable for 12V off-grid
power systems and is compatible with 7 types of batteries (see footnote for
full list).[1] Like
most other charge controllers, the Voyager protects the batteries from reverse
polarity and battery connection, reverse current from battery to solar panel
(during darkness), over-temperature, and over-voltage. Unlike the other
off-grid Renogy charge controllers, the Voyager is suitable for both indoor and
outdoor use, making it great for boats and RVs.
The Voyager is also unique due to its “bells and whistles”
features, including a blue back-lit LED display for easier system monitoring. As
stated above, the Voyager can be placed indoors or outdoors, making it a great
option for “mobile charging.” It measures in at 6.38’ x 3.82’ and weighs under
1lb, making it a great option when space is at a premium. Released last week,
the Voyager can be purchased at Renogy.com for $69.99.
